Mission Statement

A progressive community of excellence, second to none, committed to providing the best place to live, work, worship, and grow. At all times, we will serve the best interests of all citizens.

All citizens are challenged to proactive involvement in doing their part to accomplish our mission.

Quality of Life

You see it in our new library and civic center buildings, both privately financed; in the downtown gazebos and beautiful trees that lend village charm to the streets. It’s evident in the preserved facades and fresh paint on the storefronts. You find it, too, in the many organizations that serve the community. We have an outstanding YMCA and award winning daycare facilities. Within town limits are 61 acres of public parks. The Avoca Museum and Historical Society provides special events, collections and historical programs. Nearby, Smith Mountain Lake is one of the South’s finest water recreational facilities.
